Helical / Screw Pile Installation
in Sudbury & North Bay, Ontario
Engineered structural support for decks, additions, foundations, and new construction — installed with precision using a Kubota mini excavator with hydraulic drive system.
— WHAT THEY ARE
What Are Helical Screw Piles?
Helical screw piles (also called helical piles or screw piers) are steel foundation elements driven into the ground using a hydraulic torque motor mounted on a Kubota mini excavator.
They provide immediate load-bearing capacity without large-scale excavation, concrete curing time, or major soil disturbance — ideal for Northern Ontario's freeze-thaw cycles.
Every pile is torque-verified on installation — load capacity is measured, not guessed. Foundation Masters supplies and installs Mascore M-series helical piles, from light residential to heavy commercial.

— FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
How deep do screw piles go? +
Depth varies based on soil conditions, frost depth, and structural load. In Northern Ontario, piles typically reach 6–12+ feet. Extensions are added on-site until the required installation torque is achieved.
Can screw piles be installed in winter? +
Generally yes — screw piles are one of the best winter foundation options. Frozen ground conditions may require additional equipment and will be quoted separately.
Do I need a permit for screw pile installation? +
Most deck and addition projects in Ontario require a building permit, and engineered drawings may be required by your municipality. We recommend engineers but permits are the homeowner's responsibility unless otherwise agreed.
What's the difference between M2 and M3 piles? +
M2 piles (15,000 lb capacity) handle standard residential decks and additions. M3 piles (25,000 lb capacity) are used for heavier loads — large additions, houses, and commercial projects. We'll specify the right pile for your structural requirements.
Is the work guaranteed? +
Foundation Masters warrants workmanship on screw pile installation. Warranty covers the installation itself but does not cover structural movement outside the installed support area, overloading, improper framing, or acts of nature.
